Rangda is a terrifying figure in Balinese mythology, known as the queen of evil spirits and the embodiment of darkness and chaos. She is depicted as a hideous, witch-like woman with long, unkempt hair, sharp fangs, bulging eyes, and long fingernails.

In Balinese folklore, Rangda leads an army of evil spirits and witches, spreading disease, disaster, and death. She is the arch-nemesis of Barong, the protector spirit who symbolizes goodness and balance.

The eternal battle between Barong and Rangda is a central theme in Balinese ceremonial dance performances, symbolizing the cosmic struggle between good and evil. In these dances, Rangda uses black magic and unleashes her dark forces upon the world, while Barong and his followers fight to protect the people and restore harmony.
